Set out filled with excitement from Metropark 11:39 am. Apparently I was on the first train out after a bad storm last night knocked wires and trees onto the tracks between Philadelphia and Washington. We have been stopped at Philadelphia's 30th St. Station for four hours so far but told they are moving trains now and we will be third. Truly a hurry up and wait event!
Faked out. Instead we had to change trains. Finally at 7:30 pm, yes after 7 hours in the station we finally headed south to Washington after a bit of drama where we pulled out backward for a ways then returned to the station for a few minutes before leaving.
Found this blog from a charter school teacher while I was waiting. This is what can happen without union protection. Not the environment you would want your children's teachers to face.
